New Horizons Credit Union's story begins in 1950 when the Credit Union was first chartered. Through all those years, we have taken pride in offering our members Solutions for the Real World - as our promise states. New Horizons Credit Union offers some of the best competitive rates on loans in our area. You'll also notice things are a little different around here. Unlike a traditional bank, we're here to help you thrive financially, and the well-being and satisfaction of our members always comes first. In order for us to provide you with the financial solutions you desire, membership is necessary.
Who can join New Horizons Credit Union?
There are many ways to qualify for membership. If you live, work, worship, or attend school in Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, Monroe or Escambia counties in Alabama, or Escambia, Santa Rosa or Okaloosa counties in Florida, you are eligible for membership at New Horizons Credit Union. You can also join New Horizons Credit Union if you are related to a current member or if you work for a member company. If you're still not sure if you are eligible, contact us, and we will help you.
What is needed to join?
Joining is simple. All that is needed is valid identification, such as a driver's license, your social security number/card, and a $25 minimum balance to open a savings account at any New Horizons branch. Your Savings Account is your share account and is what establishes your relationship. The $25 is simply the minimum balance that must be maintained for membership. There are no hidden fees to join.
We do require that membership happens in person at any of our branch locations; however, we may be able to help get the membership qualifying process started by contacting our Member Services Center at 251-316-3240. From there, an appointment can be made with any of our branches to complete the necessary documentation. National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) - Insured Deposits:
Your deposits at New Horizons Credit Union are insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration), an agency of the Federal Government. This is a permanent increase in insurance limits for accounts backed by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). The boost in insurance coverage is the same as that provided for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which insures bank deposits. This insurance fund is currently at the strongest and best reserve level in its history, making your Credit Union a safe place to save. For details about the NCUA, visit NCUA.gov.
Fraud Prevention Measures:
Just a friendly reminder that New Horizons Credit Union has a system that monitors members' accounts for possible fraud. You may be contacted if fraud is suspected, but NHCU will never ask for personal information such as online credentials, your entire card number, account number, or social security number via email, voice, or text messaging.
